Coop, the largest retailer in the Nordic countries, and ACNielsen, the world’s leading marketing information provider, announced today a new agreement that will expand the relationship between the two companies in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
The agreement calls for ACNielsen to provide a range of market measurement services, merchandising software and advisory services to Coop, while the retailer will make its point-of-sale (POS) scanning information available to ACNielsen in all three countries. Prior to the new agreement, Coop had provided POS data to ACNielsen only in Norway and Sweden. ACNielsen integrates Coop’s POS data into its Scantrack retail measurement services and also provides manufacturers with key-account reporting about sales of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) through Coop.
“This expanded relationship with ACNielsen will help Coop develop a better understanding of the Nordic marketplace and support our efforts to realize closer integration and greater synergies across the region,” said Jan Lundgren , Senior Vice President. Noting that Coop is restoring ACNielsen’s access to its POS data in Denmark after a three-year period of non-cooperation, Sigurd Ringheim, General Manager Internal Material & Services, Coop Norden said, “ACNielsen has made great progress since 2002 to improve its coverage of the Danish marketplace and the quality of its information, especially in terms of ‘census’ reporting.
